Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation
This state agency, in conjunction with its ad agency, MZD, developed and implemented a multi-media marketing, public relations and grass-roots campaign in 2001 to address and reduce the smoking rate in Indiana, and correspondingly, the resulting medical costs to the state of treating tobacco-related illnesses. Bingle Research Group, working with ITPC and MZD, developed and conducted a multi-phase research program. This program included creative development qualitative focus groups and both telephone and web-based quantitative studies to evaluate the progress and results, and provide strategic direction for the next steps.
As a result of the overall campaign and the research program, ITPC has achieved the following:
- Youth smoking rates have decreased among both midle and high school youth in Indiana, and are below the U.S. average for the first time
- Adult smoking rate has also decreased significantly
- Overall cigarette sales in Indiana have decreased
- On secondhand smoke issue, significantly more Hoosiers are aware of efforts and supportive of smoke-free indoor air.
- More Indiana households banned smoking in their households vs. 2002
Indiana State Department of Health - Maternal & Children's Special Health Care Services.
ISDH, working with its ad agency, MZD, began an educational campaign in 1998 to promote a statewide sexual abstinence and teen pregnancy awareness program. Bingle Research Group assisted the client by developing and implementing a full-service research program consisting of qualitative focus group to develop, evalutate and select potential creative concepts and several quantitative telephone studies among both teens and their parents.
Since the start of the campaign ISDH has achieved the following:
- Teen pregnancy rates in Indiana have decreased significantly and the rate in Indiana is below the U.S. average
- Awareness and knowledge of the benefits of teen sexual abstinence have significantly increased in the state
Wishard Health Systems
In 2002, Wishard Health Systems developed and implemented a marketing and public relations campaign to improve the awareness, image and usage of Wishard Health System. Bingle Research Group developed, conducted and analyzed a baseline telephone study along with three telephone tracking studies to assist Wishard Health Systems in evaluating its campaign and providing directions for next steps.
With this campaign, Wishard Health Systems achieved:
- Increased top-of-mind brand awareness, familiarity, hospital preference and usage levels
- Increased perceptions as the market leader in responsiveness to community needs, burn care, trauma care and overall quality of care
- Higher support for Wishard Health System's mission and higher belief in its critical role in the health care of Marion County residents
